Folks in the Flathead are rallying around a Columbia Falls wrestling star battling brain cancer. 22-year old Michael Hader learned he has cancer in May. Now, medical expenses are piling up and chemo is taking its toll.
Hader has been wrestling for the University of Great Falls on a full-ride scholarship, but he?s had to put his dreams of a national championship on hold. His family has organized a benefit dinner and auction for him on Saturday at the Blue Moon in Columbia Falls. The money will help Hader cover his living expenses as he temporarily relocates to Seattle for radiation treatment.
?Anybody that doesn?t know my brother, if you spent five minutes with that kid, you would want to help,? said Columbia Falls resident Tiffany Sterling. ?That?s really all I could say, he is incredible.?
The benefit event is family-friendly, and begins at 6:00 pm on Saturday. Organizers have put together a raffle and games to coincide with the auction. Folks looking for more information can contact Tiffany Sterling at 270-8180.
